Be Grateful For Good Health

Next time you go out in the pouring rain
Be grateful that you can see its beauty
It's selfish of you to ever complain
The blind will never see what you can see.

When you hear thunder that roars in the sky
There are some that will never hear its sound
They will never hear their baby's first cry
Or sounds of nature that are all around.

A walk in the woods or along a beach
Enjoyable things that we all can do
For many these things are out of their reach
They cannot walk or move like me and you.

They get on with life and never complain
Tell me how we can ever gripe again ?.

Written on 1st October 2018.

( I applaud people with disabilities who make the best of what they have.
But I have no time for the ungrateful able bodied who like to moan about the slightest thing, they don't know how lucky they are.)

When we compare our blessings with that of those impaired or disabled, we will understand how lucky we are. But unfortunately we take everything for granted and complain of things we don't have. A beautiful sonnet, spreading a lot of positive vibes. Well done, Tom.

Thank you very much Valsa, we all complain occasionally but come back down with a bump sometimes when we see others worse off than us and realise how lucky we are.. Tom

Good Day, Tom. There are many with handicaps who can accomplish more than the able-bodied. Some of our fellow humans who are quite able have souks that are disabled. May we all appreciate and love each other, above all else. Thank you for the poem.

Thank you Panagiota, respect for all mankind is important disabled or not, you're right though , the world needs more love and understanding and accepting others who may be different. Regards. Tom.

Hello Tom, the people with handicaps live their lives the best they can. They can do things in different ways. People who put these people down are cruel. Have a nice evening my friend.

Thank you Darlene, they are an inspiration to us and we shouldn't take it for granted, we never know what's over th horizon, yes there are cruel people in this world. Tom.

Thank you for the reminder, Tom. It's always timely, 24/7. Whenever I get discouraged with the limitations I (now) have, I think of the poor souls in nursing homes in the Chicago area and realize that---I have ZERO problems. Thank you again. Best wishes, Gershon

Thank you Gershon, I know we do tend to forget at times and it's not till you see others less fortunate that you realise maybe things aren't so bad after all. Tom

Thank you very much Maureen, some people need a boot up the backside sometimes to remind them they have nothing to gripe about. Tom

Another thought; We all go through things and yet there is always someone who has it much worse.

How true my friend, Tom! We ought to thank God with each of our breath we take! I for one do it all the time! Wonderful message my friend!

Those who have all their senses and their health should be so grateful. I have had some experience with being wheelchair bound and was losing my vision. My exhusband was deaf. We are grateful for our health as some have it so much worse. Your poem is wise and well written Tom. : )

Thank you Connie, yet there are many who take it for granted and show no gratitude and are content to moan about everything.I know as we get older our senses become less than they used to be but that is a fact of life. Tom

Thanks Heidi, we do tend to forget sometimes how lucky we are to be able to do certain things when others never even get the chance. Tom
