Battle of the Muses

Verses flow from my brain like sudden zingers
While “Inventions” by Bach flow through my fingers
Sometimes one Muse will trample the Muse of the other
Sometimes, I go for a walk before I succumb to the smother.

Wow! Congrats! Thanks for sharing your talents, expressed by this muse of yours... I rejoice with how the Lord has endowed you with both writing and piano-playing skills. God bless you.

This is very nicely penned; as usual. You have a great talent my friend. Do you suppose your piano-playing is a remnant from a previously lived life?

Absolutely. Otherwise, I can't explain it. I played my first tune on the old piano in my grandma's parlor when I was about three years old...to the astonishment of family who realized I was playing "Bell Bottom Trousers, coat of Navy blue..." I was a World War II child. Play pop, classical, hymns, jazz, etc., by note and by ear with almost no formal training. I guess I'm blessed! Incidentally, no other family members played the piano!!!!

Hi Milton - you are lucky you can play the piano, I was never blessed with musical skill - best wishes for the contest!

Thanks, Michelle. It just came at a very early age, played all my life, wrote all my life. The two seem to go hand in hand with me. I think, though, that playing is more relaxing.

Happy you, Milton, to have Bach flowing through your fingers! I can only appreciate the German master flowing through my ears. / Maurice

Thanks, Maurice. Started playing when I was about four years old. Some folks say when I play "by ear" it sounds like Mozart. Maybe I studied under him in a previous life, eh? lol
