Baseball Reflections On a Rainy Day

Outside my place on the Lower East Side
The rain is falling 
I think the Mets are playing tonight and if 
they are I will
watch those electric warriors battle 
Someone gave me a T-Shirt
with an image of Ebbets Field on it 
in NYC we have a canyon of heroes 
and some of the contemporary players 
will eventually be in it 
Went to Citifield to see the Mets
battle the Padres the other day 
It was Salute to Israel day! 
Memories of Koufax 
hanging in the air 
in this city which never sleeps

Matthew, what a lovely baseball memory you have created with this poem. Excellent imagery and although I'm not a big baseball fan, it was quite an enjoyable read.

Love that last part, memories hanging in the air in your big apple city that never sleeps!
