Bartolomeo
They knew with a name like Bartolomeo Cristofori
This charming boy raised in the hills of Italy
Would be destined for grand things
They saw Bartolomeo forging his destiny
Tinkering with the sounds of strings vibrating
Throwing a tiny hammer for melodious resonating
And so it was around 1700 the piano was invented
For centuries refined through innovation
evolution and technological advances
Grandiose in many forms from
baby grand to boudoir grand
to parlor grand to concert grand
To this day keys of ebony and ivory enchant
At the hands of every passionate virtuoso
