Band of Gold

Silence so loud
I cannot hear my thoughts
Screaming prevents me from sleep
I am tired
Fading into oblivion
I cannot close my eyes
It hurts so much to remember
Once loved and desired
Consciences conflicted
Bound to one
A band of gold my jail
Call it duty or cowardice
I can never leave

Longing for another
To be loved and desired again
Understood
Satisfied
Will I ever be free from these chains?
Hope keeps me alive
I dream of escape
To be unrestricted
Love is all I need
To be without shackles
In your arms once more
Then and only then
Will the silence be silent

Sad and full of emotion. Reminds me of the song: Sad to Belong to Someone else (when the right one comes along)

Hey Sarah, stopped by for a visit. This is a haunting and sad poem of longing and lost love. Beautifully expressed and written. Well done! Be Blessed, Neva
