Notes About The Poem

For Francine Robert's Welcome to Spring poetry contest.

A sonnet of such... Ten syllables per line.

Band of Bunnies

As the sun appears from its winter hush,
earthy meadows now appear green and lush.
As its refreshing rays begin to peep
animals awaken from their deep sleep.

A band of bunnies hop to spring's delight,
dancing among flowers yellow and white.
With small fluffy tails and ears soft and long,
seems like they're dancing to a secret song.

Naughty rabbits nibble on tender shoots
and chase each other in joyful pursuits.
Skipping around lawns that need to be mowed
It's the happiest they've been since it snowed.

Their antics may not always seem funny,
but it must be great being a bunny.

Really cute SO. We're seeing bunnies here in the US now. I see them on my lawn at night. They and all the other signs of spring are very welcome.

Congratulations on your POTD, SO! What a delightful and sweet poem. Love the alliteration - "band of bunnies!" I think kids would love this poem. Recently, in the news, was a story about a bunny - a Flemish Giant. He was on his way to the slaughter house when rescued by a man who named him Big Bunny. Big Bunny is now an ambassador in San Francisco riding around in his own carriage, making friends everywhere he goes! He especially loves kids! Enjoy your POTD honor! Blessings to you!
