Baggage

I am your baggage
The weight you carry inside
When you remember
The twinge you feel
As you recall the touch
The all too often reminder
The heart flutter
When you think you hear my voice
The pain
When you see my picture
The desire
When your heart screams for me
The burning
When your scent catches a familiar fragrance
The longing
When your soul cries out
The regret
Of what was lost
The love
you want to give
I am your shame
The black mark
Someone who will forever remain in the shadows of your past
The one you traded in
love for comfort
