Notes About The Poem

Sponsor: Matt Caliri

Contest: Xavier Poetry Contest

Badside Manner

Xavier, my family doctor, was blunt,
He told me my days were numbered, upfront.
I thought “what a creep”!
Then died in my sleep -
My heart declined to bear the bilious brunt.

Congrats on placing 7th in my contest! This was like an after dinner mint, small yet full of flavor and personality. Well-worded and highly enjoyable!
