Badge of Honor Hall of Shame

I enlisted into the Army to protect and to serve the USA,
The badge I wear, the uniform I share each and every day,
Is the symbol of a freedom, a democracy, a land,
To which I do not understand,

It started in the year of seventeen hundred and seventy six,
When our founding fathers decided to fix,
The laws place upon them by the King and Queen,
To which they deemed to be outrageous and mean,

We moved across the ocean far beyond the sea,
To a land where all men can be totally free,
We developed a nation, to which we called our own,
Sent the British packing, told the French to go home,

Established a country so rich and so bold,
Imported slaves to be bought and sold,
Built the foundation with the sweat of the weak,
Crumbled their backs when freedom they would seek,

Dislodged a whole nation, scattered them apart,
Poisoned their water, killing buffalo as an art,
Those who survived had to learn to conform,
To become an American, A name unknown,

A nation divided, the South from the North,
A nation united to hunt Crazy Horse,
A battle lost at Custer’s last stand,
A war won at the invading nation’s hand,

A soldier’s diary found in the field…
“To my loving wife, if I’m found and killed…
I leave to thee my heart and my name,
I fought the good fight, I died not in vane,

Place my badge upon my grave,
Tell my sons, the life I gave,
Allowed them to live, to fight the wars,
The politicians shall lie at your doors,

Fight and obey the laws of the land,
Even if you do not understand,
Your reward will be given in the afterlife,
The end is near… Good Bye, My Wife.”
