Bad People Own Pens Too

While it is true the pen is mightier than the sword, We must not forget that bad people own pens too. You may have put away your sword but a war of words Is stiill being fought So sharpen your wit and keep a good supply of pens For when a counter argument is needed To prevent just one side of the story being told Lest some innocents get burned by the clever wording From the pens of those up to no good.

Glad poem is being understood. With so much propaganda out there it is hard not to react in wrong way and when we have moments when we are not thinking straight we need those who are to keep us balanced. Poetry is a wonderful medium that can help keep things positive and get rid of demons. Hugs back David

Thank you Craig. Nothing bad about your pen either. Staying positive with a few years of life under belt is something to be proud of. Too easy for bitterness to creep in. Southern air and living life upside down may be an advantage for us. Fondest regards David

David, Way to go with this Didactic!! Its message is spot on in both meaning and metaphor. I've seen the cruelty that some people attempt to impose on others with there snide words and obvious negative intent. Cyber Bullying is truly terrible!! Facebook offers an open platform for this for sure. A most reflective write!! Cheers and Best, Gary

Thanks Gary. Many people think good automatically triumphs which may or may not be true in end but left unchecked bad can dominate the landscape for significant periods bringing with it Misery and hatred. Battles fought with words can either foreshadow war or peace and given that we no longer connect on a personal level as much as we used to words have taken on disproportionate influence on how we judge people. I grew up with and still have close friends so tend to put less emphasis on them. Very Best wishes, David in NZ.

Thanks Joe. Appreciate your taking time to read. Face book is like wild west with so much misinformation that is fuelling hatred and aggression. Poetry helps me relax and keep things in perspective.

Deliberate misinformation is bigger problem, half truths and lies are much worse. I was taught to ignore hurtful words but is harder not to be sucked into believing lies when you only get one side of story. I wrote this poem to highlight that inaction by good people allows bad people to flourish even when words not swords are being used. Thanks so much for stopping by. Think you might be one of good guys. hugs back David in NZ

Very reflective on the pen...but I think this is the age of fingers on touch pads/screen(though I prefer keyboard)!:D LOL! Enjoyed your poem

Always good when poem is understood, especially when message in it. Whether we use pen or keyboard we still need to reflect on what is being written by others, otherwise too easy to get burned. Felt compelled to write this poem after reluctantly going on face book. So much hatred and incitement to violence so little to inspire. Age and life experience my best friends when on face book. Best wishes always David In NZ

David, true words, many a writer's soul has been shattered by bad pens, words are everything as they have no facial expression, the good pens need to unite and be stronger. GREAT poem ~

Thank you. Always good when ones words are understood, and thank you for taking the time to read which is also what is lacking today. I just feel sometimes the phrase the pen is mightier than the sword is sometimes misunderstood. Words written or spoken in right way can prevent the sword being taken up in first place. Look after yourself as I think from reading your work that you are one of the good guys. David in NZ
