Bad Gems

Once there was a man called Joseph “the Gem”,
very clear of “sinners“, “traitors”, the worst of them.
Ditch and seek pardon – sinner.
Ditch and never seek pardon – traitor.
Bloody if sinners are Gems then traitors could be “bad Gems”!

this has an interesting final line. That's what makes a limerick good.
