Backwards Spells of FEAR Part II

handing me over through the next
door waiting for my fight to give in

injections to soothe it all away
demons flowing through my veins
changing my DNA
from careless want
to endorphin need
purgatory

the space between caring and giving up
while still holding on
to a dream
a fantasy
another chance pushed farther away
mirroring my every fault

you can run, but can you hide?
quiet darkness friendly dimensions

the imagination of a ten year old
living as an adult
with nowhere to go
breaking under the increasing weight of hell
a familiar dungeon
temptation wrapped with a false freedom
a false bottom teetering

on the bare edge of a ravine
alone with no debate
as monsters scavenge in the shadows
of deception and wrong turns
whispering away the third fancy

as those who have grown close
begin to die one at a time before realizing
trees hold strong by shedding their own leaves

the meaning of my dream
after my dad passed
where he handed me the ancestry sword
to slay those demons

you are only running from yourself
hiding from monsters wearing your face
and until you face those demons
in the mirror mocking
you are only running in circles
riding the merry-go-round

smash through your matrix
shattering all of the lies
burdening your soul
caged by the spells of F.E.A.R.
fearing everything and running

stand up and burst through
demanding your power back
look yourself deep within your eyes
distinguish the learned comforts of society
and flip the tables

Face Everything and Rise

with the fierceness of an eagle
take flight by their words no longer
let go
and feel your wings lift you up
soaring one moment at a time
until your sword just glides

to wherever
whenever

you choose
