Back Yard Eye Sore of Summer

Though it gets lots of water, our grass on clay dirt yellows; stubborn thorny weeds reside. . . . where might I buy turf? For Francine Robert's Contest: "Flowers, trees, grass, or bees"

Andrea, some of the best books I've read were written by journalists -- John Steinbeck was a reporter when he wrote "Once There Was a War" and the late Harry Reasoner's "Before the Colors Fade" was far better than Dan Rather's "The Camera Never Blinks." "The Greatest Generation" is the best of the best when it comes to books written by journalists though. A best seller for a Loooong time! Love, Carolyn

This poem is so true. I think we all have spots in our yards that the weeds overtake all. Good luck in the contest. love phyl

Maybe we could just change our view of what a lawn should be..Enjoyed the work..Reads like a winner..Thanks for stopping by and reading my works..I looked up Heloise and Abelard..I have seen part of two movies that could be that story..One though I thought that he was preparing to be a priest..Sara

Oh how many times I have been tempted to do just that, Andrea... even now we are in a drought and even the weeds are having a rough time of it...However I don't believe our horses would fare well munching on turf. Enjoyed your thoughts on green .or the lack of it. Good luck in Francine's contest..

Cool description of your lawn. Mine is mostly sand with a couple oleanders I planted recently. No, there was no requirement to write footle on the poem. Best wishes in Francine's contest with this witty poem. Love, Carolyn

Do u live on my street, Miss Andrea? I know where u might buy turf...1/2 mile away... isn't it just science that the clay dirt is full of excellent nourishment for those ugly ole weeds and doesn't do anything for what we really need! Interesting dodoitsu on your back yd. :) Gwendolen
