Back To School
So, it’s back to school at last
Christmas holidays are done
Time to go back to the routine
Of the tedious school run
I’ve discovered the school bags
Are still full of last year’s stuff
Something has gone mouldy
And something else is made of fluff
I joined the frantic shopping crowd
For stationery bits and bobs
On a last-minute pricey trip
That means I’ll need a second job
Now we’re running late as usual
And it’s time we got out the door
It’s the usual morning panic
Leaving a mess I'll just ignore
And once the school run is over
I’ll breathe a sigh of relief
And collapse into a chair
Relishing peace – however brief
