Back Surgery, When

I know most people want them far away,
No finger laid upon their precious skin.
They squirm and wiggle fearful and afraid,
A needle makes them pallid and they faint

For me this is no problem, for I like
Improvement doctors can provide for me:
In silence I keep all my fingers crossed,
I hope the tests will prove my body strong.

This surgery I want, it will improve
My life in many ways, but most of all,
I hope it will decrease the pain I feel.
For that alone I give myself to them

These doctors I will welcome with a smile:
The broadest smile that I can find in me.
I'll grin and nod and totally comply!
To show them I am ready to begin.

So think of me tomorrow when they test
If I am strong enough for surgery.
Because if yes, next week or after that,
I finally am rid of you lot here.

Lol, only for a week or two, not yet!
They have to give me green light first, but still
Tomorrow I will hear if I am strong,
Tomorrow they will tell me yes or no....

It pains me to hear this, I sometimes ask what God would do this to one of the kindest warm hearted people I know. All I can do is say you are in my thoughts and you know many of us are here for you! Of course loved the poem too.

For those who wonder: they haven't given the green light yet. I have to go back for another Wednesday/Thursday stay next week, and by then they have hopefully decided, because this is a killer.... sigh ...

They'll give you the green light. They probably want you a little stronger before that. Hugs

I already know you are strong. God, knows we see you as strong. Even so, I am holding your hand, focusing on the perfect body that is yours by divine right as is a journey in health's true light. With love, CayCay, Kyle

Oh, Darren. I HOPE it happens!! I think it's so wonderful when there is technology out there that may help us and I dream of things for myself one day too (things that will just have to wait) This one is SO important to yo. I wish you all my best. I know how you must suffer.

Hi Darren its me again. I had a wonderful neurosurgeon and team. Please keep us updated as we will be thinking of you. With hope any physical pain can be relieved. Not that surgery takes it all away but it helps greatly for a better quality of life. If any pain level can be lowered than what better than that. I know this for certainty. May your team of doctors help you.

The hospital I go to, they have been treating me for years now, and I have full faith in my neurosurgeon. And yes, you have understood that SO WELL! It will never take the pain away, but it can give me a better quality of life with hopefully less pain. I am very realistic, and that is indeed what I am aiming at.

...and stuck in the "on" position, my dear, I don't think the English language has strong enough words to describe the pain you endure. My chord was spared. I want to use some profanity for you now ;) I send you love instead. Maureen

Dear Darren. As someone who has had surgery several times for several reasons. I say to you be not afraid. When the body is in physical pain or need the time is right. Have faith in your surgeon. Be not afraid of the anesthesia as well. I found it the best thing ever each time. I'm sorry however if you and your body are in need of medical attention. You will be in our thoughts. Please keep us informed. You are a treasure.

Lisa, thank you so much. I am not afraid for the surgery, I am looking forward to it if that makes any sense.... And yes, I love the anaesthesia, I have no problems with it. Thank you again so very much for being so nice to me.
