** This is a song I wrote and recorded over 30 years ago on a four-track cassette deck in my bedroom, while attending college in Boston, but it has stood up well over the years and will be re-worked for my upcoming album on a major label, (under my music moniker "Bahku"). I hope you like it! (I did all the writing and production on this recording, and played all the instruments - a VERY long time ago). **

(Verse 1) Deep in the night Caught between a promise And a stranger's desire All alone ... He struggles with his thoughts A bitter truth within When will he start To face the fears he knows Lay hidden in the dark? What is real ... And how much of this is dream? He needs to know It scares him so (B) There has got to be a way to find Freedom for this searching, troubled mind And You know where ... There. (Verse 2) Life takes its toll Left alone again To search his soul The strength of youth And vanity's embrace Is wearing thin I know his pain Cuz every day I fight it And still it remains Why do we dare the night To strike its blow and knock us To our knees ... Before we see? (B) Empty lives don't have to end that way We can save a lifetime in a single day If we believe ... (Chorus A) Don't try to change Be who you are He made you special He gave you a star There's more of you Than what others see He loves your soul So be ... What you can be Oh (Guitar Solo) (B) Oh - Precious time we waste to judge and hate Go and take His hand - it's never too late I you believe ... (Chorus B) Don't you despair Hold onto love You're gonna find A strength from above Don't ever think That you're gonna lose Know deep inside You can be ... What you choose Don't ever change Be who you are He made you special He gave you a star There's more of you Than what others see He loves your soul So be ... What you can be Oh - B what u can b (Guitar Solo Fade Out) Copyright 1986 Ganymede Music - BMI

Great message Greg! I like the positive vibe of constant improvement, to be the best you can be, similar to my Love will come to you lyric (I think you commented on it). Nice work, I can just imagine what quality you are capable of if this was thirty years ago! wow!

I personally don't use my computer much for recording - just tweaking and uploading/transfer, but use a 32-track hard disc recorder and racks full of outboard equipment ... I'm "old school" and I like twisting knobs and pushing faders, ha! I guess I'm very tactile, but there is a bit of technophobia there as well, to be honest! ;-)

Thanks, John, so appreciated ... and thanks for saying that! I try to remind people that these were done over 30 years ago, and that my songwriting, musicianship, and production skills have improved a great deal since then, and you can hear the difference in sound quality with "Filipina Girl" which was recorded recently.
