Awestruck
It’s a mystique calm night
Golden leaves fall and fly
With flitting elf and sprite
Under the smoky eerie sky.
The full moon’s tinsel glow
Silhouettes wide-winged bat
Scanning dark ground below
On pumpkin sits a black cat.
Feline eyes blaze in cold fire
It growls, the silence cracks
Switching tail sways in still air
Rippling on arched fluffy back.
Awestruck, all these I’ve seen
In the weird night of Halloween.
