Autumn’s Song

As each leaf falls, dancing in the wind
A song of grace, such healing praise
Rises from my limbs, spreading hopeful promises
Across the distant hills, coats intensely ablaze

As each dream leaves, a trembling grief
Stills my heart and soul, blessing every shadow
Remembering, even when I don’t understand
The heavy hands of time turn so slow

As each moment breathes her destiny
Stilling the stars, the moon’s soft glow
So that wherever I meet with the night
Beautiful mirages of love’s glory will gently flow

As each blessing is given and I thank Him who is Love
There is an ache, a shiver, tenderness weeping
So that I know, when autumn finally agrees to her show
There is a joy that so vibrant, hope that I’m keeping…

As the summer leaves behind her heartfelt hope
Autumn’s leaves, her tender breeze, echo in the air
Writing a story of grace and joy across the spirit
Remembering, as she leaves, love booms its prayer

And I know the glory of autumn’s still cool light
Reflecting all my tomorrows, bleeding beautiful life
Through the shadows of each falling leaf,
Stilling all worry, encouraging through all strife

As autumn feels closer, and the leaf says goodbye
I remember to recite her story in the fading twilight
As memories tremble and offer such rhythms,
Creating a beautiful quiet, a pathway beneath the starlight

In echoes of dreams, her story rises in me
A story of grace and peace, a story – not make believe
It tells the secret of autumn’s creativity
The secret serenity found, even though she’ll grieve

Grief of the fallen leaf, grief that speaks
Telling of a summer gone, a fading song
As autumn writes to the wind, peace within
Rising over the hills, praise that is never wrong!
