Autumn's Gentle Rain

a shy drizzle touches the tired, parched earth lawns lift their heads, remembering green dust loosens its grip on windowsills air cools, carrying the promise of change porches and people breathe easier

Lovely. You have described so well the impact of the first Autumn drizzle. Love the line- 'dust loosens its grip on window sill.'

This is a beautifully evocative piece. The quiet, unpunctuated free-verse form perfectly mirrors the soft, unassuming arrival of a "shy drizzle." I absolutely love the personification of the lawns lifting their heads to remember green—it paints such a vivid, tactile picture of the earth's relief. The final line brilliantly ties the landscape to the human experience, making the reader feel that refreshing, cool breath of autumn air right alongside you.
