Autumnal Reflections
Tangerine, cinnamon, caramel brown,
Sweet candy apples by flickering fires,
Echoing hues gently cascading down
Flavours of autumn as summer expires.
Visions of childhood breeze into my mind,
Crunching through woodland on blackberry quests,
Fairy-cup acorns for squirrels to find,
Scurrying hedgehogs preparing their nests.
Spring, summer, autumn and winter bring change,
Each with its manifold gifts to impart,
Transient stages of life re-arrange
Bringing new blessings to gladden the heart.
Nights have grown cooler, my summer has passed
Autumn must harvest the fruits which will last.
