Autumn Is
Autumn is a nip in the air
More covers on the bed
Animals put on heavier coats
Wind turns your face red
The color change is taking place
With bright reds and yellows
Sip a hot toddy if you wish
It’s good for a fellow
Rake up the leaves into a pile
Then smell them as they burn
Roast a marshmallow on the fire
Have that s’more that you yearn
Cut firewood to just the right length
Split it and stack the wood
Bobbing for apples in a tub
You’d bite one if you could
Bring the fire wood into the house
Wear gloves or get splinters
Start of the short days and long nights
A prelude to winter
