Autumn Eventide

autumn eventide

drowsy autumn yawns
early darkness stunts her days ~
  twilight mellow haze

cool evening dozes
autumn savors frost in dusk ~
  scarlet afterglow

fading eventide
 croons a sunset lullaby ~
  sweet spice of autumn

sleepy autumn eyes
 daylight slips into midnight ~
  vesper barcarolles

hectic harvest time
 abundant crops gathered in ~
  amber moon rises

autumn gently snores
 cornucopia dreams ~
  astral autumn fields

so pretty. My favorite was the last one with the snores!

Thank you Andrea! I just couldn't resist the image of autumn gently snoring as fall is carried into hibernation! I am so glad you liked this one. I think it has become a favored child! Blessings of sweet harvest dreams to you!

Sam, your haiku's are a class in themselves ! From yawing to dosing, then falling asleep and snoring. What wonderrful progression. Congratulations on your well deserved win !

Dearest Valsa, I am so humbled and honored by your wonderful feedback and your congratulations. It has been such an enjoyable experience to learn to write haiku - to paint a picture in seventeen syllables and stir emotion in the heart. I love the thought of autumn getting for bed - cozy, slipping into dreams as the days grow shorter, the nights longer and the world continuing its change as winter approaches! Thank you for sharing the autumn bedtime story dear friend. Sending you blessings, sweet dreams!

Love the comfort and gentle description. It seems to intrinsically depict the season I love so very much. Lonna

Many thanks for your lovely feedback. I too love autumn and after all of its initial activity I do think it needs a nap and a peaceful night to rejuvenate for the spring! And, I agree, there is a gentleness about the autumn transition even as fall storms arrive. Take good care. Blessings!
