Autumn Days

The girls and boys are back in school
Now learning what they need to know
The leaves are turning orange and red
Before they drop to earth's worn floor

The animals are getting fat
So they can sleep until springs rays
The birds are flying south in flocks
So they can winter were its warm

The trapper is preparing now
For winter that's about to come
The farmer is now bringing in
The crops that are in all his fields

Soon winters time will overtake
Then many creatures will go to bed
For now I thank my lucky stars
For all the things I still can do
