Listen to poem:

Autumn

Autumn is a season of reflection,
As old leaves die, fade to red and are shed.
It's time for deep lasting introspection,
To prepare for winter and spring ahead.

As the days get shorter, nights grow longer,
It's time for dreams to replace the clutter,
Of summer's brash rush, with a long ponder
Before the cold calls windows to shutter.

As trees let go of what summer has grown,
So must we sacrifice last year's green flush.
Learn the lesson to release what we've sown,
To shed pages as spent, and load fresh paintbrush.

In this season of change, we need to find,
How to let go, and sacrifice, to grow.
For true renewal requires a fresh mind,
Unhampered by woe betide's status quo.
