Listen to poem:

Australia, Land That Promised Plenty

Australia, you promised plenty
Buildings replacing trees and views
Concrete covers the sacred lands
Developers grab even more
Energy draining quickly
Farmland naked where once bush grew
Green landscape now just scars
Humble pleas go unheard
Justice lost behind closed doors
Lost children in a lost land
Money begets murder done
Nobody left to save this land
Open scars where miners dig
Prosperity flows away
Quietly the land cries
Religion an early cause
Scars everywhere we see scars
Trembling mountains fall in pain
Understand the land that cries
Victims silenced by gun and law
Wisdom from elders taken
Xeric land now appears
Yearnings to change the past
Zephyr sweeps a damaged land.

Read your bio, we're similar. Superficial people/talk never appealed to me. I love people, loathe mankind & poetry called me when12/it was/is my one sure companion. Lacking confidence, I hid my poems for decades until Soup. This well composed, emotive poem could be mine; greed destroys, kills earth's blessings, truth, brotherhood's potential. Most stinky thinking behavior is loud and dramatic; truth aware people are quiet & peaceful. Like cavalry vs. Indians. Now AI makes me cry. Out of room

So we are poetry sisters. Thank you for your kind words. AI has almost had its day. There will always be people who find cheating as AI is when calling something as your own when it's not. All poetry I post is my work, and I am proud of it.

Yes, I am deeply saddened by how badly the land and its people are being treated.

It's the start of an opening up of how I feel about this wonderful land that is being abused.
