Australia ( DHR )

This ancient tribal odyssey began,
When Australia's first nations colonised,
A land beyond the cradle of mankind.
They came with knowledge of astrology,
Sharing 'dreamings', that transcends mythology.
With languages without written lines,
And cultures learnt, by word of mouth.
They journeyed south along uncharted shores,
Following the flightpath of migrating birds.
Not knowing what, their destiny would be.
A land untouched, unseen by humanity.
This island became, their forever home.
Enduring earthquakes, changing landscapes,
And volcanic fissures fearsome flames.
This pressure zone, set in amidst a silver sea.

Now rock art and dot art, aeons apart.
Depict a rainbow serpent, improving earth's fertility.
Where dreamtime fulfils a spiritual embodiment.
A culture based on morality.
When winds of change and stars align.
Those skies predict when autumn's nigh.
Where ripe fruits, with wild roots and green shoots abound.
The hunter gatherers with boomerangs, would waylay wild geese.
Before those birds, could join in and feast.

Unfinished work.
