Ataraxia
Ataraxia
Ah !
Peace
Peace apart from all the other wishings
For it
And other dreams
For the world
To be set
Within its balm
Peace
Would be known
If she were not so denied
By those who cannot spell out
Her sanctuary
Or rest from her a single syllable
For themselves
Peace
Apart from all the other wishing
Would be
To sit without words
Listening to the voice of the world
Next to her
Peace indeed
Found in unflinching eyes
And open hearts
Ah !
Peace
Apart from all the other worldly wishings
And other dreams
For the hearts of humans
To be set within
Its balm
Would be an eternal day
Of loving
Made whole by joining hands
Would span continents and oceans
But separate every grain of sand
To be held up in their glory
Peace indeed never to leave
But rest evermore by her side
And think on even the slightest thing
Of making her smile
What peace more
Could I ask for
