Notes About The Poem

At Sunset

Toweringly tall trees

                rustle over yonder;

           all standing at attention

                    black against

           the tangerine-hued sky.

     The sun is finally bidding adieu

            as a tired day is slowly

              lulling itself to sleep.

Amazing picture, Edward - so vivid in its contrasts. Love "standing at attention," "tangerine sky," "tired day." You really packed a visual punch into your brief lines. Congratulations on your win! Really like this one.

I never thought of how black the trees get at night, but they surely do. Your imagery is wonderful, Edward.
