At Peace

There is this yearning
deep inside my soul
that is satisfied only when
I am alone atop a mountain
or sitting quietly by a stream
or laying in a cozy meadow
splashed with sunshine
My heart is soothed there
as if I were truly home
truly at peace
truly one with mother earth
this Mecca is my driving force
as I follow the hummingbirds song,
deeper into the wilderness
where the hum of humanity
can no longer be heard
or felt through the ground underfoot
My soul has come home
and is flooded with the warmth
that heals even the deepest wound.

There is something about nature that brings peace to the soul. Nicely written. Vince

Aha! So you are an earth child, too. One with the universe, of course! If only I were closer to mountains, streams and meadows - if only! I hear you so deeply. And another Aha! : ) Your mother is a valued treasure here. I see talent is plentiful between you two. How absolutely wonderful to know. What a gift you two share. Warmest greetings to your mom, she is missed. And another warm welcome to you dear Trudy. Enjoy your stay here. Such a pleasure to have you join us! Love, Shar
