At Mount Pearl's Small Duck Pond

Not a long time from your day
Is a walk around “Duck Pond”
On asphalt, beneath tall green trees,
Sporting growing “pitcher plants”,
Grasses, flowers, butterflies,
Fluffy clouds in high blue skies,
A walk, a jog, a run, just sit –
It’s nice to observe neighborhoods
Of ducks and people passing by
While lazing at “Duck Pond”.

Some folks just come to feed the ducks,
Children, seniors, wheeled chaired friends,
Watch water, cool, in small brooks
Flow down into “Duck Pond”.
Other folks come for to take
New memories in photos clicked
Of them, their children, ducklings too,
Remembering when they were young
As children in the future will
At Mount Pearl’s small “Duck Pond”.
