At First Glance
At First Glance
There are such women.
Those who do not so much
capture, as captivate.
Entering, they glide slowly,
seamlessly, across the eyes,
overshadowed by the more
stunningly stylish and
demanding divas. Yet,
they are not overlooked.
As the moment fades and
the evening moves, so do
the eyes of those drawn to
beauty. Thus it was I found
my eyes returning, gazing
upon her face, her presence.
There was no strain in her
beauty, no intimidation in
her stride, no drama in her
movements. There was,
seemingly, a sweet music
to which she alone danced,
moved, mingled, without
becoming lost in the crowd.
She would, I thought, exude
this same air of confidence
and character in any situation.
It was not love at first sight,
for she was not the fireworks,
but the reason for the parade,
not the most beautified, but
the most beautiful. At first
glance beauty can be eclipsed
by the beautiful, for beauty has
no need for darkness. At first
glance - I saw - but did not see
the beauty that awaited me.
