Note: Hurricane Sandy - October 2012, (unofficially known as "Superstorm Sandy") was the deadliest and most destructive hurricane of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season, and the second-costliest hurricane in United States history. While it was a Category 2 storm off the coast of the Northeastern United States, the storm became the largest Atlantic hurricane on record. The Jersey Shore suffered the most severe winds and surf from Hurricane Sandy and the most flood damage from the storm. The Shore had the second-highest flood in its history.  (Wikipedia)

At Another Time- After the Flood

We, at another time, had savored summer's glow
upon a beach where many generations went;
where our old Jersey Shore was what we used to know.

The cute, quaint cottages all nestled in a row
with pristine sandy beaches- fragrant ocean scent;
we, at another time, did savor summer's glow.

Where cooling ocean breezes spread their lovely flow,
a flood-filled hurricane arrived with bad intent-
where our old Jersey Shore was what we used to know.

And, Sandy was that dreaded name we came to know;
she left the beach and homes in shocking discontent.
We at another time, had savored summer's glow.

Now, homely modern cottages on stilts bestow
steep stairs, no flower garden charm to lend accent-
where our old Jersey Shore was what we used to know.

Another time exists- built on a new plateau,
for Sandy washed away, removed 'old days" content.
We at another time, had savored summer's glow
where our old Jersey Shore was what we used to know.
