Notes About The Poem

The poem references the first Presidential debate of 2020...

Astonished, Amazed and Ashamed

Insults tossed like grenades
Lies slipping easily off his tongue
Interruption instead of discussion
Dragging his opponent into the dung

I listened astonished, amazed and ashamed
How America's President his office defamed

If only Trump were mad! He's actually quite sane and fully aware of what he's doing, which makes his behavior all the scarier. He actually thinks that this 'strategy' will help him electorally....

I like that -- 'Trump's rump!' Serving 'Roast Trump-Rump,' this evening's special. Would you like his rump well-roasted?! lol. Thanks for the chuckle, Sigrid. I was kind of reeling from that theatrical farce Tuesday evening. ~ Gershon

I only saw a few clips ~ I am not surprised, Trump has shown, yet again, what an incompetent buffoon he is! Your lines so clever and perceptive, excellent write!

I just commented on Ilene's poem about this issue. What a shame people are blind to his obvious faults. He's been a detriment to our country, domestically and globally, since he was sworn in...and that oath was a lie, too. Well expressed are your lines, GW.

Thank you so much, Jenna, for the support on this one. I think that even some Republicans will vote for Biden, just to be rid of DJT... We'll see. Cheers, Gershon

A real disaster wasn't it? Welcome to the Banana Republic of America. Smiles, Gershon

I agree with you succinct assessment of this very sad state of affairs, my dear friend. Delusions, derision and division run amuck! Your disappointment is well expressed, Gershon. We should all be afraid for the future of our democracy. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Seems we're rushing to revolution at this point. We can't even conduct an election anymore. Woe is us! :) gw
