Asleep

When I’m asleep, I’m not in pain A respite from the constant rain A place that seems so far away From any darkened, dreary day When I’m asleep, my dreams are free I’m anything I want to be I’m anywhere I used to know There’s nothing that a dream can’t show And everyone that I’ve held dear That from this life, no longer here Is with me still, their smiles to keep Forever mine when I’m asleep Yet sleep, though lovely in its course With all it’s comfort to endorse Cannot alone bring back the sun While on this planet still we run We must stay in a forward flow While living still with time to grow And loving what there is to love And thanking what there is above When I’m asleep, I hope I’ll find Not only from the peace of mind Of knowing what there was to know But dreaming of where next I’ll go

I can feel a tinge of sadness,of loss of someone once held dear,I can feel the longing,the vision of the future,and the re-union ..I can feel the beauty of dreams,thw escape to the land of Oz,where everything is wonderful,everything is beautiful,and all of those we love and hold so dear,are near..Dreams-my favourite moments.A beautiful poem.

What a soft and eloquent creation. I'm fascinated with dreams--their imagery and power. I love dreaming especially when I dream of those cherished family and friends who've passed. I find it both comforting and reassuring. Yes, we have to continue living even though so many are gone. Also, I studied dreams while in college and learned that their imagery and feelings convey powerful messages, sometimes directing us where to go. Making this one a fav. xxoo Sara

Wonderful poem Mike and l can relate…l find sleep a beautiful escape and you never know where your dreams will take you! When l have a day time nap l call it my meditation time haha!! Debx
