Ashen Decay

We arose from the bunker To a scene never seen What was once green and vibrant Ashen, no gleam Below the church we stand In staring appall No sense we make of it This deathly thrall They did it, they went and did it The buttons, they pressed Mindless, crazy idiots In their war mongering zest Choking, spluttering we are In confused look around Shadows of where they were Graffiti surround Black shadows fly Amidst the ashen decay Carrion cravers they be In flesh stripping array Emaciated to thin In skeletal walk, we To where, we're not sure In this land, we be Radiated and stressed As we peer to our sun Decades in the dark, we'll be Man's new era has begun http://www.thehighlanderspoems.com/war-8.php

A thought provoking write James at time it is scary because our leaders are into things for personal gain and look beyond the plight of the man on the street.. brilliant write ;)

.....oops...... just poking in here to say thanks for your kind remarks about KRASIN...I too as a boy had a ship-o-holic existence....my family worked in the shipbuilding industry so you can imagine the regular conversations about real ships ....later I began to make model ships ( some with sails, some steam, etc) out of solid wood, in fact it was woodcarving but very unskilled and untutored...I still am a ship nut !If you are intrested I have a poem called SUBMARINE...regards...Syd

This threat is pressing on our doorsteps and our "leaders" argue and fight on the less significant things. Yet, the world will evolve and hopefully, "man" will finally "get it", James. Always, Annalise

A powerful account of the scenes we might find after a nuclear attack, James. At least you provide hope in the last verse as a new era begins once the radiation wears off. Awesome poem! Love, Carolyn
