As We Breathed

AS WE BREATHED As we breathed we tasted the air Of places in our minds we share, In the hedges of Tipperary Where the tiny sparrows sing With range of voice That calls out longer Than its tiny wing The Hawthorn berry catches it here And allows its notes to stroke its sphere The wind lifts it over Beech green and thick Over hill and dale Through bough and brick And the song is heard by the tiny fly Who acknowledged all natural beings nearby. And as we breathed we tasted the air Of loving hearts that we did share And it is here that the place of Soul is found In the air and on the ground Where it wandered in the longing-loam For this is the choice And the Soul is home.
