As Time Seeps By Part Two

(continued from part one)

At first he ignores her, refuses to care
But his heart is open, the love is there
He is refined, conservative and well mannered
She is spunky, life full and somewhat to be desired
Her dress is well modern but her eyes glaze with fire
She's tempting to him but he refuses the desire

As time goes by he can not think
His career suffers for want of this girl
But deep inside he knows he cannot have the two worlds
The corporation gives him a vacation
There in the Florida sun he sees the one
She's laughing and happy, she's full of joy
She recognizes him and ask if he's having fun?
"I don't like fun" He replies
She glares at him with her green eyes
He consents and off they went
Into a world he has never before known
A world of laughter, dancing and romance
A world of openness, love feelings enhanced
But like all dreams it must end
Back to work he must begin
His friends and family begin to tease
Their business wonder is not at ease
Daydreams and empty glances at the window
"Who is she?" "Are you going to marry her?"
Questions always asked
At last he decides to begin the task
He found her again, kissed her deeply from within
For her hand in marriage he did ask
His happiness unbounded when she answered yes
The emptiness that had haunted him had left him at last

He brought her home but then it ended
The world had deserted him, his heart tormented
"She's a whore! Low class! Not good enough!"
"She wants your money! Don't be a fool!"
"My son if you marry her we will disown you!"
"We only want what's best for you and she..."
Friends family and business career
Put pressures on him he could not endure
The two worlds clashed violently
The emptiness re-emerged
At a bar they did meet, late at night
It was dim and deserted much like his life
He looked at her and held her hand
She looked at him and softly smiled
"I love you but..." words linger on and on
Her face begin to swell, tears faded from her eyes
She slipped her hand from his, she got up to leave
Then turned around she looked at him
With a glare he will never forget
A face hurt, a face used, a face betrayed
A face embedded into his mine forever to stay
Not a word did she say but turned and walked away
He went back to his old world of loneliness
"Good for you, we told you she was no good"
"I'm happy for you son. You made the right decision"
"Your better without her. You'll find someone else..."
