As Time Seeps By Part Three

(Continued from part two, third and conclusion)

But someone else never came
Just loneliness with all its pain
He retired Chairman of the Board
Wealthy, admired, the envy of his peers
Sadden, bewilder at night he slept in his tears
The friends are all gone, his parents at rest
And he's growing weaker, nearer to his death
Then the vision stopped, the words came to an halt
I open my eyes the sands were at the bottom
Death rose
His eyes of glass stone turn to a flame red
"It is Time"
He took both his bone hands and plunged them
Deep into my heart
And my spirit from body did he part
As I descended in Death's Arms
My rotting flesh on the bed did it lay
A sight to sad for my heart to see
Not a tear had been wept from me
The body though lifeless it had always been
The color had long left the skin
Hair on the balding head was bleached white
Hands were like bone with the skin stretched tight
Dried wrinkled the body did stay
Strangers took it to an unmarked grave

With his sickle he did slash
And we descended through the windows glass
"Death" asked my spirit "where are we to go?"
"Surely he said you must know
Your life was void and cold, alone did you live
So shall you be in the world of the Dead
Rest your feeble spirit now
For the Day shall come
When you shall answer for all you done"
And after that he laid my spirit into earth
I have return to the clay which gave man birth
As I lay here in darkness in my grave
Waiting alone for that Day
My thoughts return to that night in the bar
And face reappears of a love afar
Gently now my spirit rests
As my soul eternally lies
My haunted heart at peace
