As Time Goes By

    Blinded by beauty
    In my memory
    A sight for sore eyes
    Rose tinted maybe

    As I grew older
    I then realised
    She was a tomboy
    Without her front teeth

    When I had to serve
    With boots on the ground
    On far foreign fields
    She wrote, I replied

    The girl of my dreams
    Cute ugly duckling
    Now graceful white Swan
    Was waiting for me
