Notes About The Poem

As the World Turns

As The World Turns

As this world turns, can peace be true
     for all that happens out of sight,
          like in 'our world' we try to do
all things to make it right and bright?

For all that happens, out of sight,
     found in the news, then put aside;
          all things to make it right and bright
is hard to do, applied worldwide.

Found in the news, then put aside...
     to help bring peace, as this world turns,
          is hard to do applied, worldwide
to somehow balance all concerns.

To help bring peace as this world turns...
     a dream we hold inside our hearts
          to somehow balance all concerns;
so sad the pain dissent imparts.

A dream we hold inside our hearts,
     as this world turns, peace is the goal.
          So sad the pain dissent imparts;
oh, how we wish with heart and soul,

as this world turns, peace is the goal,
     like in 'our world' we try to do.
          Oh, how we wish with heart and soul
as this world turns...can peace be true?

I admire and share your passion for peace, Sandra. Nothing greater could be achieved than to have all people living in peace. I watched "As the World Turns" for many years and was devastated when it was canceled. You did a great job with the contest theme and I wish you success! Hugs, Carolyn
