As The World Goes Quiet

like the rock for the centipede
or the shell for the hermit
take refuge under the moon
as the world goes quiet.

with silence like a serpent
taking shelter from the wet ground
anchor in gratitude
for the day that was had.

amidst your silenced tongue
there are sentences waiting to be spoken.
amongst your alienated adversities
awaits acceptance.

The free verse structure and deliberate use of lowercase letters create a beautifully hushed tone that perfectly suits the theme of this piece. Your opening metaphors—the rock, the shell, and the moon—ground the poem in nature and instantly evoke a sense of safety. I especially love how the poem progresses from seeking external shelter in the quiet night to discovering internal hope and acceptance in the final stanza. This is a wonderfully reflective and grounding read!
