As the Night Darkens
The night begins to darken.
One by one, the gentle stars
Softly appear before my eyes.
For you, who will someday leave me,
I quietly write a poem here in my room.
Looking out the window,
For you, who will someday depart from my side,
Just as I try to confess my heart to the stars—
Suddenly, from my eyes,
Tears seem about to fall.
The night grows deeper still.
As all the lanterns of the world gradually fade away,
I look upon the very last flickering light,
And as I try to turn off my own lantern,
My heart bursts into tears,
And even the stars drift further away from me.
