In researching Basho, I found this quote related to Basho:
One of the masters of the haiku form, Basho, defined haiku as "Simply what is happening in this place at this moment."

I love the metaphor of the world spinning as the record does Andrea. I find the haiku poets of ancient times so diverse with their own unique style like every other poet is unique unless they copy others. Haiku needs to be studied as you know. The old players would lift the needle and drop another 45 - I love it when just a few words bring back a swell of memories. The perfect Haiku does just that.
