As It Should Be
I wonder, a little too often pained
how life would be changed
if things were different, rearranged.
Not a major alteration dared
just a single little tweak paired
with a twist or turn, here or there.
A correction
if you will, some interjection
of the mistakes upon reflection.
How wonderful and marvelous a spin
our lives would have, could have been
with a better protective play within.
Ah, pondering brings no comforting light
no respite in the dream of night
when this now could be made right.
Thinking on it, with anxious intensity
I realize all was as it should be
and I am thankful for that you and me.
