As California Burns

Fire starter using flame To burn kill destroy lame What is your end game To make money to gain California she suffers so Set ablaze her forests glow People steeples burning red Hard to watch tears are shed What is the reason or cause Arson or accident or natures fault Too many questions strange to see Insurance cancelled those policies God help California prevail As we watch these fires from hell May the truth be a breeze with sail Blowing in peace where water fails

I really think that whatever the trigger was, if leaving dry, brittle brush on the ground -- instead of clearing it away, as common sense dictates -- hadn't become a 'thing' among the environmentalist elite, the fires would have been contained a lot faster, even with those banshee winds.

Karen, you highlight very well that these fires will cause much suffering. There's a lot to learn from this as you point out. If we allow investigators and scientists to do their job, we could fashion policies and provide funding that makes us a better custodian and subject of Mother Nature. This is a small indication of how powerful she is and how small we really are. We should be very careful going forward in order to avoid her wrath....but do people get it?

Not everyone gets it. The sad thing is the insurance companies dropped coverage and suspiciously so close to the tragedies. If there was any ill will or arson planned we may never know for sure. Sad all around. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Dear Karen, So well expressed in your stark poem!! I pray for the people of California. I have a handful of relatives living in the LA area and they are terrified at what is happening. We have seen a number of amazing people who are trying their best to contain this blaze. I pray for God's intervention to bring this to a close and help the people who have lost everything. A Fav!! Winter Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

All are so much concerned about this fire, still not extinguished. We do not know the reason. It could be treason or just a natural calamity. However the victims of this tragedy causes chocking pain in all the peace loving people. May God comfort the victims. Let us pray this will not spread to other areas and soon will be under control. Beautifully written, dear Karen.

Valsa the true heroes and heroines are the first responders who will retrieve remains. I can’t imagine the strength and composure it takes to provide those individuals and their loved ones this last bit of dignity. What courageous people they are! Glad you like my poem thanks.

When the fires stop, then the extensive damage can be seen.

Hi Karen it's heartbreaking watching people losing their homes, I find it hard to believe how long these fires have been raging, I watched on the news that high winds are coming back again.

Yes it’s so sad. We take so much for granted like waking up to normal weather no fires.
