As a Child
As a child
As a child, we live day to day
In the sunshine, or rain, we play
Living free, in a careless way
As a teen, we expand the field
For only friends, a smile will yield
Emotions; the onion is peeled
As young adults, we need to work
First love; an exciting new perk
Still selfish, but not quite a jerk
In our twenties, a full time job
An apartment, and such a slob
Oh my, will these bills ever stop
Then thirty, we meet someone new
They change everything that we do
And soon enough, the baby comes due
When forties came, along with debt
So much more I didn’t expect
Living great! Paycheck, to paycheck
At fifty! The kids, leave for school
Working hard or just being cool
You pray, that they won’t be a fool (like me)
Now sixty! Panic, starts to hit
Arthritis, grays and other ****
And memory!
The freaking pits
Seventies! I loved the seventies
And a great time in the eighties too
I was still young and single and….
And….
Wait! What were we talking about???
