Artist

Tonight like a child,
                           caring not the time
                                  nor the place.
                         Studying you as only an
                                artist could know.
                          The lines and features
                             of your face.

                          I've painted this picture
                               a thousand times,
                             remembering you,
                                  when we're apart.

Walter Alter March 25, 2016 at 12:46 PM I like the effortless rhyming. Many rhyming poems twist syntax awkwardly to get a rhyme happening and they sound stilted or "poetry like". You do this with a nice flowing sense, simply and directly.
