Art of the Heart
Laced with golden caramel streaks
Glistening in the July sun
Shaped in little circle orbs
Right below those lush and lustrous brows
There, my heart loves lies
The pair of them stare intently
Does he not know my heart yearns for him?
Day and night, they howl in intense agony
For fear of and desperation for love
It is a hopeless romantic midnight tale
"Chico, the eyes they never lie", they say
Before my soulmate landed in front of me
I thought it was all just a phrase
A mere phrase complete of meaningless nouns
Yet now, staring across to my mystery lover
My secret admirer
My knight in gold foil armour
I realise that love is nothing but a verb
They exchanged glances across the room
A smirk, a smile, a laugh
Oh dear, it just seems to be
That I must be experiencing my one true love
Alas, my fair lover, my heart is all yours
Take it. You must.
For I have no need of it if not to love you
Your light-colored crystal gems look upon me
Reflecting that gleam
Of unique warmth, no other eyes showed
All day, I dream about the time
My own cocoa-coloured lenses
Shall meet with those azure gems
They say love is art
But all I love about you can't be fully captured
Within those murals and paintings
It drips through onto the paper
Inescapable words about my deep love for you
It feels like an eternity of solemn sadness
The silence hums where your laughter once lived
An echoing echo of absence
Time drags its feet without you
Each second is a stab to the heart
Stretching the hours into hollow hallways of waiting
I replay your voice like an old song
But the echoes slip through my fingers like mist
The wind still carries your name
Like a flashback of our past
But without your warmth
Or smile when you look at me
It feels like all but a miniature whisper to no one
All I wish is to whisper back to those pointy ears of yours
Is how much I'm in love with you
Three words, eight letters
Say it, and I'm all yours
