Around the Corner

Is something wonderful in store for me? I feel it near and almost hear the pulse of it! What’s around the corner? What can it be? So far, a butterfly, it only wants to flit. I feel it near and almost hear the pulse of it. It has to be so beautiful. It can’t be bad! So far, a butterfly, it only wants to flit! I race with time to find out something glad. It has to be so beautiful! It can’t be bad. . . Like Tony and Maria in the West Side Story, I race with time to find out something glad - to sparkle like a star that finds its glory! Like Tony and Maria in the West Side Story, I sing, “Tonight won’t be just any night.” To sparkle like a star that finds its glory! Surely round the corner cannot be plight! I sing, “Tonight won’t be just any night!” Aflutter with anticipation, I’ve found hope. Surely round the corner cannot be plight. Is destiny my friend, or am I just a dope? Aflutter with anticipation, I’ve found hope. What’s around the corner? What can it be? Is destiny my friend? Or am I just a dope? Is something wonderful in store for me? West Side Story is one of my favorite movies! How could I not love this poem? I'm back, been catching up on things and writing after the funeral, and I see I am in for a wonderful morning catching up on your poems.

Missed this one. This one easily gets into the transcendental. Love the way you use the form to amuse and confound your reader. Love, daver

My parents saw the original West Side Story on Broadway. That is based - as I am sure you know - on Romeo and Juliet. Nice poem! - and please let me know what you think of my latest. Best Matthew Anish

Ok if you insist, but this is the last bird joke I am telling you. Q: What robs you while you’re in the bathtub? A: A robber ducky.

I like how you keep us on our toes never revealing what was around the corner, but just relishing in the hope of it... something was wonderful in store for me, when I clicked on your poetry list ;)
