Notes About The Poem

Armor of God

Each day we need our armor for the fight,
to wage the battle from daybreak to night ~
protection to wield.

The struggle is against not flesh and blood
but evil forces; enemies of God
souls, the battlefield.

The belt of truth fastened, the strong breastplate
of godliness, gospel boots laced up straight ~
faith, our robust shield.

Wearing the helmet of his saving grace,
God's Word, the two-edged sword ready in place ~
His wisdom revealed.

Dark days are coming; pray and do not fear.
God's armor helps his people persevere ~
Satan's fate is sealed.

Congrats and Kudos on hitting for the cycle, my friend! I love this scripture passage. Low Down Earthly Blues was based on it! So let us suit up in this uniform of grace and head out onto the battlefield! Many blessings coming your way!

Ah yes, I remember that song well. Armor sitting in a corner collecting dust... I know the smell of that dust all too well. Thank you for celebrating with me and for the reminder to keep the armor on, it takes away the fear of those high and tight pitches... chin music!

Oh, this is a tapestry! I truly think it's a little masterpiece. Hits the point on the head. Cool analogy with battle. ' Satan's fate is sesled' - how rad is that line!?! A solid write.! Sure it should have been higher! Congratulations on Win, John.

Congratulations John! Your poem earned a distinguished place in my contest, due to the demands of this form of poetry I was very strict, making it a difficult contest to judge, very well done my friend, Emile.

My friend, your strictness makes the placement all the more gratifying. Thank you for sponsoring, for drawing attention to a poetic form with its own special charm, and for the kind placement. I know you put a lot of thought into your contests for which I am grateful. ~ John

To have a brilliant poet call my words brilliants is honoring and humbling. Your poem "A Veteran's Journey" took my muse in this direction, so thank you for the inspiration AND the affirmation, my friend.

Just wonderful, John, and also very fitting for this world today and what is coming. I beleive I did this tail rhyme a long time ago but did not post it yet. I have like five poems "in waiting" now and a few I am not so crazy about, maybe should rewrite them!! I see this poem as a winner!!
